Yinmarpin District Commander, Perpetrator, and Others Arrested and Taken to Military Headquarters for the Shooting Death of Comrade Pu Lay Maung

Yangon, June 29 It has been learned from People's Defence Force (PDF) sources that Yinmarpin District Commander Bo Swan Thaw Maung, the shooter Comrade Ng Phyo, and some district officials have been arrested and taken to the PDF Military Headquarters for investigation in connection with the shooting death of Comrade Pu Lay Maung, the commander of the 6th Battalion in Yinmarpin District, Sagaing Region. It is understood that Yinmarpin District Commander Bo Swan Thaw Maung, the shooter Comrade Ng Phyo, and some district officials were arrested and taken away by order of the Military Headquarters on June 28. It is reported that during a meeting held at the Yinmarpin District Headquarters on the afternoon of June 26, Comrade Ng Phyo, who is subordinate to Yinmarpin District Commander Swan Thaw Maung, shot Comrade Pu Lay Maung, the commander of the 6th Battalion in Yinmarpin District, with a pistol, and Comrade Pu Lay Maung died on the spot. "It is true that they have been arrested and taken away. Investigations are underway to thoroughly and fairly investigate the case and to take severe legal action against the perpetrators and responsible persons. The case is being directly overseen by the higher authorities. The military responsibilities of those taken away have also all been suspended," explained a PDF source. The NUG Ministry of Defence has also officially announced that the shooting death of Comrade Pu Lay Maung will be handled with special attention in accordance with military law and procedures.
