The Cambodian Red Cross has provided three new steel-frame houses and food supplies to three families in Preah Net Preah and Mongkul Borei districts of Battambang province, who have been affected by natural disasters (tornadoes) and are facing severe economic hardship. These houses will serve as new residences, replacing their completely destroyed homes. The handover ceremony for these humanitarian homes took place on the afternoon of Friday, July 17, 2026, under the auspices of HE Ouk Ratree, Governor of Battambang Province and Chairman of the Cambodian Red Cross Battambang Provincial Branch, accompanied by his wife HE Chey Nary Ouk Ratree. Also present were HE Nuom Sophann, Honorary Vice-Chairwoman of the branch, along with numerous officials from all levels of humanitarian movement teams, youth, and village/commune volunteers. During the emotional occasion, HE Ouk Ratree conveyed deep messages of care and concern from HE Dit Tina, Honorary Chairman of the provincial branch, and especially from HE Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross. The Governor emphasized that the President consistently monitors the well-being of citizens at all times and under all circumstances, clearly embodying the spirit of the theme "Continuing to Unite for Humanity." The Governor also expressed immense joy at the vibrant and strong cooperation among the various levels of humanitarian movement teams, which enables the provincial branch's rescue activities to be implemented quickly and precisely, reaching genuinely needy victims. In addition to providing new homes, HE Ouk Ratree reminded all citizens to pay close attention to their health by following the Ministry of Health's guidelines to protect themselves from infectious and non-communicable diseases, which can endanger lives and property. To alleviate hardship and provide capital for livelihood restoration, humanitarian aid was distributed. The three severely affected families (unable to build houses) each received a steel-frame house, a set of bedding, a set of kitchenware, 50 kg of rice, one box of instant noodles, one bottle of fish sauce, one bottle of soy sauce, and a sum of money. Additionally, 30 other vulnerable families each received one sarong, one krama, and a sum of money. This timely humanitarian gesture not only provides warm and safe shelter but also brings immense hope and encouragement to citizens facing difficulties, empowering them to rebuild their lives under the umbrella of peace.
