Cambodian Ministry of Labour Representatives Attend Pchum Ben Festival in South Korea

On September 24, 2026, Senior Minister Heng Sour's representative, H.E. Seng Sakda, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, and H.E. Khoun Phonratana, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Korea, attended the Pchum Ben festival held in the Gwangju region of South Korea. The event was organized by the Gwangju Migrant Workers Support Center and the Cambodian community in the Gwangju region, drawing a large participation of approximately 5,000 Cambodian workers and residents. The Pchum Ben festival was organized with the aim of dedicating merit to ancestors, especially the Cambodian heroes who sacrificed during the war, and those who have passed away. It also provided an opportunity for the Cambodian community in South Korea to gather and foster a warmer sense of togetherness. This gathering not only contributes to preserving national traditions and culture but also plays a significant role in sharing feelings of nostalgia for their homeland and strengthening the solidarity among Cambodian citizens residing in South Korea. Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Seng Sakda conveyed the profound regards and remembrance from H.E. Dr. Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, to all members of the Cambodian community and workers in South Korea. Concurrently, the Secretary of State encouraged and urged all participants to continue working diligently to the best of their abilities, while also adhering to laws, internal regulations, and understanding the living culture of the host country to maintain the honor and dignity of the nation.
