Banteay Meanchey Governor: 2027-2029 Budget Planning Must Focus on Public Service Efficiency and Local Resident Needs

In Banteay Meanchey Province, northern Cambodia, a dissemination meeting was held regarding the strategic budget plan for 2027-2029 and the procedures for preparing the 2027 budget project. Governor Ouk Ratry emphasized that budget planning is a crucial responsibility that determines the "destiny" of regional development and is key to ensuring sustainable local development, not merely an administrative formality. He instructed specialized officials and all levels of administrative leaders to pay close attention to prioritizing work, with the efficiency of public services as the utmost concern, ensuring that budget expenditures accurately meet the actual needs of local residents. Municipal, district, and commune administrations were also urged to conduct in-depth studies of their respective local challenges and potential to ensure the three-year strategic budget plan becomes an effective tool for poverty reduction and improving citizens' livelihoods. Furthermore, he ordered the specialized officials of the Ministry of Economy and Finance to act as proactive facilitators, providing clear technical guidance and training to local officials to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability in budget utilization. The meeting was attended by numerous officials, including deputy governors, heads of relevant ministries and departments, city and district mayors, and commune chiefs from across the province, reflecting a shared commitment to the successful implementation of the national strategic budget plan.
