Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce and ADB Pledge Joint Efforts for Sustainable Trade Development

Phnom Penh – On the afternoon of Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Ministry of Commerce, the Minister of Commerce, H.E. Cham Nimul, received Ms. Yasmin Siddiqi, Country Director for Cambodia of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and her delegation for a courtesy call and working discussion. During the meeting, H.E. Minister Cham Nimul welcomed the delegation and highly praised the progress of technical assistance and policy activities currently underway, which support the development and strengthening of competitiveness in Cambodia's trade sector. In response, Ms. Siddiqi noted the progress and opportunities in Cambodia's trade sector and reaffirmed ADB's strong commitment to continue providing technical assistance and further support to Cambodia, especially as the country prepares to graduate from its status as a Least Developed Country (LDC). Both parties also exchanged views and discussed the possibilities for further strengthening cooperation through the organization of technical assistance projects and new initiatives, in line with the key priorities of the trade sector. This meeting reflected the joint commitment between the Ministry of Commerce and the Asian Development Bank to promote sustainable trade development, enhance institutional capacity, and support Cambodia's economic development on an ongoing basis.
