Cambodia's Prey Veng Province Breaks Ground on Dual-Layer Asphalt Road Upgrade

In Cambodia's Prey Veng Province, infrastructure development is underway to strengthen inter-communal connectivity. On August 4, 2026, Dr. Chan Darong, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Rural Development, along with his technical team, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a dual-layer asphalt road (DBST). This new road spans 1.85 kilometers in length and 6 meters in width, designed to improve transportation between Krang Tayong Commune in Peam Chor District and Boeng Daol Commune in Preah Sdach District. The project includes the construction of two box culverts, the installation of stone protection along 200 meters of the road's slopes, 10 traffic signs, and 16 safety poles. The ceremony was attended by district governors, deputy governors, commune council members, village chiefs, and local residents. Dr. Chan Darong conveyed warm greetings and well wishes from Prime Minister Hun Manet and Minister of Rural Development Chhay Rithisen. He urged the authorities and residents along the road to cooperate with the engineering teams, to understand the construction process, and to participate in maintaining the road for its long-term usability. The construction is projected to be completed by early April 2027. This road development is part of the Ministry of Rural Development's broader efforts to enhance rural infrastructure, aiming to stimulate local economic activities and improve the living standards of the residents. Enhanced connectivity is expected to facilitate the transportation of agricultural goods and foster greater interaction between communities.
