KM Virgo Shipwreck Victims' Families Demand Owner Fulfill Rights: 'Don't Hide!'

Nathea Citra - detikBali Rinda Maviesta, wife of KM Virgo Transport 8 crew member I Putu Angga Santyana, is demanding clarity from the owner of KM Virgo regarding the rights of her late husband who perished in the ship's sinking tragedy. Rinda urges the company not to merely mention BPJS, Jasa Raharja, and 'tali asih' (sympathy money) without specifying the compensation. Rinda stated that the KM Virgo company appears to be shirking responsibility and hiding after the ship's sinking tragedy on Sunday (13/9) early morning. She believes the company is offering only normative explanations without clarity on the victims' families' rights. "They say BPJS, they say Jasa Raharja, they say tali asih. Can tali asih bring back my husband, I Putu Angga Santyana?" Rinsa said during an interview at the funeral home on Wednesday (23/9/2026) night. According to Rinda, her husband's rights as a worker on KM Virgo remain unclear. She questions the term 'tali asih' used by the company, as it lacks explanation regarding its form and mechanism. "The office only mentions BPJS, Jasa Raharja, and tali asih. What form is this tali asih? There's nothing in black and white. Nothing at all, just silence. I need clarity. I want to fight for my husband's rights. Fight for my children's rights," Rinda asserted. Rinda emphasized that she does not want to accept verbal promises from the company. She demands legal assurance in the form of a written agreement, black and white, regarding accountability for her husband. "Please, owner of Virgo, appear in the media. Don't keep hiding behind whatever it is. I beg you to write a statement in black and white. If the owner of Virgo truly wants to be accountable for my husband, don't just mention tali asih. Don't make promises, don't keep hiding," she said. Rinda also urged the Owner of KM Virgo to provide immediate clarification and contact her as the wife of I Putu Angga Santyana. "Come out in the media. Please clarify. And please contact me quickly. Find me if necessary, I am Rinda Maviesta, wife of I Putu Angga Santyana," she insisted. Not only demanding clarity for her own family, Rinda also called on all KM Virgo victims to voice the issues surrounding their unclear rights. "Please, all victims of the Virgo Ship, please all come forward. Let's clarify so that the owner of KM Virgo comes out and takes responsibility for all of this," she concluded. It is known that KM Virgo crew member I Putu Angga Santyana passed away at the age of 28. He leaves behind a wife and two young children, aged 3 years and 5 months. The body of I Putu Angga Santyana arrived at the funeral home this afternoon. Angga was a resident of Mataram City, living in Lingkungan Seksari, Sindu, Cakranegara Utara, Mataram City. As reported by detikNews, KM Virgo Transport 8, carrying 243 people, capsized and sank after encountering bad weather on its journey from Surabaya to Banjarmasin. According to data from Basarnas and the Ministry of Transportation, 114 victims have been evacuated.
