AI Summary

The provincial government of Antique, Philippines, is set to establish a heroes' hall in its old capitol building and publish reading materials to honor and preserve the legacy of local heroes, with an approved budget of P3 million for the initiatives.

The provincial government of Antique seeks to preserve the legacy of its local heroes by dedicating a hall at its old capitol building and publishing reading materials about their lives. The Provincial Development Council, during its third quarter meeting on Wednesday, approved the inclusion of P3 million budget in the Supplemental Annual Investment Program No. 4 for the initiatives. "We will be putting up a heroes hall and publication of reading materials to recognize and perpetuate the heroism of Antique’s local heroes," said Board Member Vincent Piccio in an interview. The reading materials will be distributed in schools, municipal and provincial libraries, he added. The Heroes Hall will be placed beside the space reserved for the National Museum of the Philippines to house the memorabilia and artifacts of the local heroes. "The Old Antique Capitol will then become a one-stop shop where the National Museum of the Philippines-Antique and the Heroes Hall would be located," Piccio said. Piccio said they are now coordinating with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines for the list of local heroes. Meanwhile, he said the 127-year-old Philippine Revolutionary Flag will be installed at the heroes hall on Oct. 27, 2026, during the “Pagtugyan” (entrusting) ceremony. The installation also marked the first year since it was turned over to the provincial government last year. National Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gen. Antonio Nafarrete are among the dignitaries invited to grace the occasion.
