AI Summary

In Vietnam's southern Ca Mau province, border guards are enhancing educational support by donating school supplies, scholarships, and bicycles to children facing economic hardship. This initiative aims to strengthen ties with the local community.

In Vietnam's southern Ca Mau province, border guards (Bộ đội Biên phòng) are intensifying their support for students facing economic difficulties as the new school year begins. On September 5, coinciding with the start of the academic year, the Command of the Ca Mau Border Guards and its subordinate units visited schools in coastal areas. As part of the "Nâng bước em đến trường-Con nuôi đồn Biên phòng" program (support for children sponsored by the Border Guards), they personally handed over bicycles and scholarships to students. During the ceremonies, 55 students each received a scholarship worth 4.5 million VND (approximately 27,000 JPY). Additionally, 270 students from disadvantaged backgrounds were gifted 25 bicycles, nearly 10,000 notebooks, uniforms, and other essential supplies. Colonel Phạm Minh Giang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Ca Mau Border Guards, stated that the "support to send students to school" has been sustained for many years in the coastal region. This initiative works in conjunction with local authorities and schools to ensure that impoverished students do not have to drop out and to encourage them to strive in their studies. This supportive activity not only strengthens the bond between the border guards, local party committees, administration, schools, and residents but also promotes the role and responsibility of the Border Guards in civilian mobilization (dân vận), contributing to the development of education in the coastal border areas. Under Vietnam's one-party system, access to education is considered a cornerstone for social stability and economic growth, with the government continuously implementing support measures for the underprivileged. The collaboration between organizations like the Border Guards and local communities can be seen as an aspect of the state's governance capacity.
