Cambodia Holds Mid-Year Meeting on Online Scam Crackdown

A mid-year progress review meeting on combating online scams was held in Kampong Speu province, Cambodia. The meeting was chaired remotely by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sar Sokha, with participation from Kampong Speu Provincial Governor Dr. Cheam Chansophorn. Also in attendance were provincial deputy governors, the provincial administration director, the provincial police chief, the provincial gendarmerie deputy commander, the chiefs of nine municipalities/districts, and technical officials. The meeting aimed to review, evaluate, and closely monitor the results of work carried out so far, and to set out new strategic directions. This is intended to increase the effectiveness of preventing and cracking down on all forms of online scams, with the goal of ensuring the security, social order, and safety of citizens in the digital context. In recent years, with the spread of the internet, online scam methods in Cambodia have become more sophisticated and diverse, raising concerns about their impact on people's lives. The government is strengthening its efforts to combat cybercrime, including through international cooperation.
