Peace Process Steering Committee and MNDAA hold talks

The National Unity and Peace Process Steering Committee met with the Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party (MNTJP/MNDAA) on the morning of September 24 at the meeting hall of the Horizon Lake View Hotel in Naypyidaw. During the meeting, Chairman of the Steering Committee, Lieutenant General La Pyae, stated that this meeting with MNDAA was the first in Naypyidaw, and that Kokang Self-Administered Zone Special Region (1) was designated as the Kokang Self-Administered Region, and there was mutual trust. He also said that it is necessary to make the Kokang Self-Administered Region a reality for political action and national unity, and that ways must be found to build mutual trust. Following that, U Phone Win Naing, Politburo Member, General Secretary (2), and Head of the Liaison Department of MNTJP, stated that he particularly welcomed the path to peace building in an inclusive, free, and unconditional manner. He also said that there is full willingness to strengthen mutual trust through the existing dialogue process and to jointly promote national stability and peace, and wished for the nation to be stable and for all the people to live peacefully together. After that, the attendees discussed issues such as preventing the disintegration of the Union, preventing the disintegration of national unity, building a democratic and federal Union, creating peace through inclusive, free, and unconditional dialogue, issues of self-administered regions, and the reopening of border trade gates. After that, adjustments were made to record the discussions of both sides, and the record was signed and approved.
