Cambodia Reviews 6-Month Progress in Judicial Reform Drive

On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the Ministry of Justice convened a meeting to review the six-month progress of the campaign to expedite case resolutions and address irregularities within judicial bodies. The meeting was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Keth Rith, with participation from leaders and officials of the Ministry of Justice, as well as heads of courts and prosecutor's offices nationwide. A report on the campaign's implementation results was presented, and Deputy Prime Minister Keth Rith highly commended the achievements made over the past six months. He specifically praised the initiative and high sense of responsibility demonstrated by the implementing mechanisms, courts, and prosecutor's offices. Following discussions on the challenges encountered, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed all relevant parties to continue their efforts in resolving public complaints and intervention requests swiftly, thoroughly, and justly. This aims to strengthen and enhance the quality and credibility of justice services, thereby bolstering public confidence in the justice sector. Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Keth Rith advised the courts and prosecutor's offices to continue paying close attention to handling the five priority cases: birth registration, traffic accidents, juvenile delinquency, narcotics, and technology-based fraud. This initiative is expected to contribute to improving the efficiency and transparency of the judicial system in Cambodia and enhancing access to justice services for citizens.
