Cambodia: Ministry of Labor Resolves Dispute at Yida Garment Factory, Workers Return to Normal Operations

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has successfully mediated and concluded two key concerns raised by workers and employees of Yida Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a garment factory located in Kien Svay district, Kandal province. Following the resolution, workers and employees have resumed their normal work operations as of October 10th. Sun Messa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, stated that the two concerns brought forth by the workers and employees included requests for the company to review and pay wages accurately, and to dismiss a professional communication staff member who had used inappropriate language. Sun Messa further emphasized, "The Ministry has diligently facilitated the resolution of the brothers and sisters workers and employees' requests through peaceful means and based on the law. After all parties agreed on the solution, the brothers and sisters workers and employees reopened the way and returned to work as usual." In conjunction with this, the Ministry of Labor has urged all parties to continue adhering to the spirit of the agreement and to resolve all issues through peaceful dialogue and legal mechanisms.
