Vietnamese Foreign Minister Co-chairs ASEAN-New Zealand Foreign Ministers' Meeting

On July 22, in Manila, Philippines, Politburo member and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, along with New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters, co-chaired the ASEAN-New Zealand Foreign Ministers' Meeting. The meeting was attended by foreign ministers and senior officials from both sides. The forum also included the ASEAN-New Zealand Sub-regional Cooperation Forum and the ASEAN-UK Workshop celebrating 5 years of Dialogue Partnership. The 33rd ASEAN-New Zealand Dialogue emphasized the promotion of the comprehensive strategic partnership for mutual benefit. Discussions also focused on shaping visions and policies to elevate the ASEAN-New Zealand partnership to new heights. As a member of ASEAN, Vietnam plays a crucial role in regional cooperation frameworks, and strengthening ties with New Zealand is a priority in its foreign policy. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth and skillfully manages international relations to maximize national interests. Building diverse partnerships while navigating its complex relationship with China is central to Vietnam's diplomatic strategy.
