Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Donates School Supplies to 600 Disadvantaged Students

On September 12, at the Binh Duong Old Traditional Craft Village - Kawazo in Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross organized a program to donate school supplies for the 2026-2027 academic year to students facing hardship and demonstrating academic diligence. This initiative provided school supplies to 600 students. On the same day, activities were also held in observance of World First Aid Day. An appeal was also made to participate in the Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Fair. This activity is part of the Vietnam Red Cross's commitment to community support, specifically aiming to assist young people with limited access to educational opportunities. Under Vietnam's one-party system, social welfare activities are typically conducted under government guidance, often aligned with the Communist Party's ideological objectives. Organizations like the Red Cross play a crucial role in contributing to the achievement of government policy goals. While Vietnam's economy has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, disparities between regions and income levels persist. Such donations of school supplies can be seen as an effort to promote social inclusion through education, in a reality where the benefits of economic growth do not necessarily reach all citizens.
