KAI Assures Jakarta Area Train Operations Safe Amid Volcanic Ash

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta has confirmed that train operations in the Jakarta area remain safe despite the spread of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, Sunday (6/9). Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, said that the volcanic ash observed in several areas so far has not disrupted the safety or smoothness of train journeys. Despite this, KAI continues to monitor the condition of the train tracks and stations to anticipate changes in the situation due to the spread of volcanic ash. According to Franoto, the monitoring includes track conditions, stations, and the visibility of train drivers during their journeys. "We ensure that the safety aspect of train journeys is the top priority. Our personnel continuously monitor the conditions of the tracks, stations, and the visibility of train drivers along the entire journey," he said. KAI is also coordinating with relevant agencies to monitor the developments of Mount Anak Krakatau's activity and the movement of volcanic ash. If the conditions change and have the potential to affect train journeys, KAI states that it will take handling measures in accordance with safety procedures. Franoto urged passengers not to worry about using train services as long as operations continue normally. "The public does not need to worry. We continue to monitor the situation intensively and will prioritize the safety of customers, personnel, and train journeys in every operational decision," he said.
