Action taken against electricity theft at a cashew nut factory in Mopbi Township

It is known that action has been taken against electricity theft at a cashew nut factory in War Nya Chaung village, Mopbi Township. The Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy has been monitoring, investigating, and exposing illegal electricity usage. On July 13, it was discovered through investigation that the cover seal of the digital meter connected to the transformer used at the cashew nut factory of U San Hla, the registered meter holder in War Nya Chaung village, had been tampered with, and electricity had been stolen. Consequently, the meter was immediately removed. Due to this electricity theft, a loss of over 440,000 electricity units has occurred, and compensation and fines totaling 301,893,575 kyats will be imposed. Furthermore, power supply will be suspended for six months in accordance with the Electricity Law. If the compensation and fines are not paid within 14 days, legal proceedings will be initiated in accordance with the Electricity Law. The ability to monitor, investigate, and expose electricity theft through control centers, and the significant increase in public cooperation, are greatly contributing to the development of the nation's electricity system. The Ministry of Electricity and Energy has requested the public to cooperate further.
