Cambodia's TVET Program Awards Nearly 2,000 Scholarships in Preah Sihanouk

The Cambodia-China Friendship Technical School of Preah Sihanouk (PCCFPI), under the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, has provided 1,860 scholarships to underprivileged and vulnerable youth through the "TVET 1.5M" program, initiated by Prime Minister Hun Manet. PCCFPI stated that the scholarships cover 11 vocational fields, including building electrical wiring installation, water pipe installation, car maintenance and repair, home air conditioning services, beauty services, security camera maintenance and repair, electronic equipment maintenance and repair, computer services, small machinery maintenance and repair, computer graphic design, and vegetable and fruit processing. These skills were selected due to high demand in the current job market, particularly in Preah Sihanouk province and special economic zones, facilitating easier employment, increased income, and the potential to start personal businesses for the trainees. Students enrolled in the program can receive numerous benefits, such as a stipend of 1,120,000 Riel per course (for eligible holders of a poverty card 1 or 2, or vulnerable families), practical training with modern equipment, a technical and vocational certificate, and opportunities for internships with partner companies. The vocational and technical training program for approximately 1.5 million target youth from poor and vulnerable families across the country, at the technical and vocational certificate level, was initiated by former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen in 2023 and officially launched for implementation by Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on November 14, 2023.
