Cambodia Reviews Progress in Combating Online Scams, Vows to Eradicate Cybercrime

On the morning of September 10, 2026, the Governor of Svay Rieng Province, H.E. Peng Porsath, participated in a monthly meeting to review the progress of work in combating technological scams (Online Scams) via the Zoom video conferencing system. The meeting was presided over by H.E. Santibandith Net Savoeun, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the National Authority for Combating Narcotics, and H.E. Aphisonthibandith Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Provincial governors from across the country joined the virtual meeting, reporting on the progress of measures against cybercrimes, particularly those involving technological fraud. Participants emphasized the importance of maximizing the use of technological tools and strengthening cooperation to dismantle and eradicate criminal networks in response to the growing threat of online scams. The Cambodian government views the increasing trend of cybercrimes, such as online scams, with serious concern, especially in light of rapid digitalization. Fraudulent activities targeting personal information and finances can directly impact citizens' lives. Therefore, the government is working to enhance countermeasures in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
