Pattaya Mall Raid Uncovers Counterfeit Perfume Network Linked to Malaysian Financier

PATTAYA, Thailand — Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested a 44-year-old woman accused of selling counterfeit branded perfumes at a major shopping mall in South Pattaya, with investigators tracing financial links to a Malaysian financier. The operation was carried out by the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) of the CIB following an investigation into the alleged sale of imitation perfumes designed to resemble well-known luxury brands. Officers arrested the woman on suspicion of offering counterfeit trademarked goods for sale after finding 138 perfume products covering 14 brands or items at the shopping mall. Investigators said the products were allegedly marketed primarily to foreign customers in Pattaya. The probe also uncovered a financial trail reportedly connected to a Malaysian national believed to be involved in the network. Investigators suspect the individual may have played a role in storing the products and handling payments. The suspect was taken into custody for legal proceedings, while investigators continue examining the alleged supply chain and financial connections behind the counterfeit perfume operation.
