Phu Quoc Targets Model Security, Civility Status as APEC 2027 Host

Phu Quoc Island, a resort destination in southern Vietnam, is aiming to become a city with "model security and civility" as it prepares to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in 2027. The island is attracting attention both domestically and internationally as a destination for "affordable luxury," offering high-end resort experiences at accessible price points. According to travel booking site Expedia, search volume for Phu Quoc has increased by 25%, with its appeal lying in "affordable luxury." Notably, the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort, developed by Sun Group on Kem Beach, has been recognized by travel magazine Travel + Leisure as a leading luxury resort in Vietnam. Travel + Leisure also selected an image of the resort’s iconic Shell Pool, set among coconut palms and white sands, as the lead image for the article.
