12 More Remains of Fallen Soldiers Discovered at Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City

On August 5, the remains collection team of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command discovered and collected 12 more sets of remains of fallen soldiers in Area B of Le Thi Rieng Park in the city. Seven of these were accompanied by personal effects that could be related to the deceased. This discovery is part of the ongoing efforts to collect the remains of fallen soldiers at Le Thi Rieng Park. Numerous remains have been found at this park previously, bringing the total to 168 sets. In the past "500-Day Operation," 1,563 sets of remains were collected, and 9 mass graves were identified. In Vietnam, remembrance and gratitude towards war victims are among the spiritual pillars of the nation. In particular, the collection and respectful reburial of soldiers lost during the unification war (Vietnam War) are considered national priorities. Collected remains are interred in national cemeteries and local memorial sites, with efforts made to inform families and organize public memorial events. This activity serves as an opportunity to remember past sacrifices and renew vows for peace. The continuous discovery of remains at Le Thi Rieng Park suggests that the memories of war still lie buried beneath the city, and the collection and reburial work are expected to continue as part of the efforts to build a peaceful society.
