Cambodia Urges Workforce Preparedness for AI's Impact on Future Job Market
Cambodia's Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training is pushing for workforce adaptation to the evolving job market influenced by AI, aiming to build a digital economy and society. Young people are urged to enhance digital skills and creativity.
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training of Cambodia is promoting the adaptation of its workforce and the development of a digital economy and society in response to the evolving impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the job market. On the afternoon of September 2, 2026, Dr. Kuoch Soman, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, participated as an honorary speaker at the 6th Cambodia 4.0 Forum, themed "The Impact of AI on the Labor Market and the Future of Work." The objective was to share perspectives and insights related to the preparedness of Cambodia's workforce to be flexible and adapt to the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), thereby contributing to the promotion of digital transformation and the building of a digital economy and society in Cambodia. The forum was held at The Kampus building under the chairmanship of H.E. Hun Many, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cambodia 4.0 Center, with participation from representatives of ministries, institutions, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, relevant associations, educational institutions, students, and members of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC). During the event, Dr. Kuoch Soman delivered a presentation and shared perspectives and insights regarding the preparedness of Cambodia's workforce to be flexible and adapt to the advancement of AI. He also encouraged the further dissemination of the knowledge and content gained from the forum to the public and relevant stakeholders, contributing to the promotion of digital transformation and the building of a digital economy and society in Cambodia. Concurrently, the forum highlighted the importance and impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the labor market, as well as the need to develop human capital and digital skills to respond to the changes in the world of work. Furthermore, the forum urged Cambodian youth and the workforce to strengthen their knowledge, digital skills, creativity, and flexibility to adapt and maintain competitiveness in the future job market.
