Cambodia Holds Military Recruitment Drive in Provinces to Bolster Ranks
Cambodia is conducting a military recruitment drive in Kampong Thom province, aiming to strengthen national defense and provide employment opportunities for youth. The recruitment process is free of charge and has seen significant participation from young individuals.
A military recruitment drive aimed at enlisting soldiers has been held in Kampong Thom province, Cambodia. This initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen national defense capabilities and create employment opportunities for citizens. On September 3, 2026, at the Kampongתו Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Brigadier General Meas Yot, Commander of the Provincial Gendarmerie, along with his deputy commanders, head of the human resources department, and specialized unit chiefs, led a recruitment briefing for students and young individuals. During the event, application forms for aspiring gendarmerie soldiers were distributed. The recruitment is open to all students and youths who meet the required qualifications and is conducted free of charge. Application forms will be distributed from September 3 to 13, 2026, and applications will be accepted from September 4 to 15, 2026, at the Provincial Gendarmerie Command during regular working hours. Brigadier General Meas Yot instructed the applicants to bring essential documents, including family registration books, residency certificates, birth certificates, Cambodian national identification cards, and diplomas (such as bachelor's degrees). During the occasion, Brigadier General Meas Yot wished all applicants a safe journey and success in their examinations. This recruitment drive is part of a broader plan to replenish military personnel across Cambodia, with a particular focus on engaging young people in provincial areas. In recent years, the Cambodian government has been prioritizing the modernization and maintenance of its defense forces, and such recruitment activities are seen as integral to this strategy. For young people in rural areas, this also presents a valuable opportunity for stable employment.
