Pangasinan Police to Install Warning Signs Against Fake School Threats

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – In response to a series of malicious threats received by several schools in Pangasinan via social media, the provincial police will install signboards in schools across the province enumerating the criminal liabilities of posting such threats. Police Colonel Dennis de Leon, officer-in-charge of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, stated that the signboards will serve as a reminder to students that online threats carry significant legal consequences under the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. These consequences can include imprisonment and substantial fines. "We want to emphasize that these threats are not mere pranks but serious criminal offenses," De Leon said. He also urged parents to supervise their children's online activities and to prevent inappropriate content or behavior from being posted.
