Vietnam's Tuyen Quang Focuses on Security for 2026 Thanh Tuyen Festival
Tuyen Quang province in northern Vietnam is prioritizing security measures for the upcoming Thanh Tuyen Festival, scheduled from September 19-25, 2026. Anticipating large crowds for the extensive cultural and sports events, comprehensive plans are in place covering security, traffic, fire safety, and food hygiene.
Tuyen Quang province in northern Vietnam is intensifying its efforts to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming Thanh Tuyen Festival, scheduled to take place from September 19-25, 2026. This major cultural and sports event is expected to attract a large number of domestic and international visitors, prompting provincial authorities to implement comprehensive security measures. The centerpiece of the festival is the "Dem Hoi Thanh Tuyen" (Thanh Tuyen Night Festival), themed "Lung Linh Dem Hoi Trang Ram" (Sparkling Full Moon Festival Night). Scheduled for the evening of September 20 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, it will feature a parade of 40 large lantern models. This parade route, traversing central city streets, necessitates significant attention to traffic management, crowd control, and swift response to any incidents. Minh Xuan ward, a central area hosting the main events, anticipates a surge in traffic. The local police, in coordination with traffic police, militia forces, local security personnel, and youth union members, are planning traffic diversions from afar to prevent congestion. During the festival, especially on weekends, 100% of the ward's police force will be on duty, supplemented by personnel from the provincial police. Inspections covering food safety, residency management, businesses requiring security permits, and fire prevention are also being conducted collaboratively. Participants in the parade models are required to adhere to designated routes, possess the necessary qualifications, abstain from alcohol while operating, and maintain speeds below 10 km/h. These regulations are crucial for ensuring the safety of attendees and the smooth progression of the festival. This year's festival will also include a range of other activities, such as the "Festival Nong San, OCOP Lang Nghe Gan Ket Du Lich - Tuyen Quang" (Festival of Agricultural Products, OCOP, Craft Villages linked with Tourism) to promote local specialties. Additionally, a "Food and Beer Festival" with 30 stalls will offer culinary experiences, alongside the "Tuyen Quang Marathon" and an off-road vehicle demonstration, aiming to integrate the festival with the region's natural landscapes, culture, tourism, and sports. Colonel Duong Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Police, has urged all units to proactively develop plans, manage foreign visitors, implement scientific traffic diversions, and maintain close inter-agency coordination to promptly address any emerging situations. These preparations are vital for creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants. The Thanh Tuyen Festival has previously been recognized with three Vietnam Guinness Records: "Mid-Autumn Festival Night with the Largest Lantern Models," "Largest Mid-Autumn Festival Tray in Vietnam," and "Largest Pulling Lantern in Vietnam." These accolades underscore the festival's unique character, scale, and community-driven appeal. Source: Nhan Dan
