Donations inside the stone inscription hall of Myazedi Pagoda are prohibited

It has been informed that visitors to Myazedi Pagoda, located in Myinkaba village, Old Bagan, have been instructed not to make donations inside the stone inscription hall where the Rajakumar stone inscription is kept, and that responsible officials have conducted on-site inspections, according to the Bagan Branch of the Department of Archaeology and National Museums. It is reported that due to the faith and devotion of the Myanmar people, most domestic tourists visiting Myazedi Pagoda are observed to be making donations inside the stone inscription hall where the Rajakumar stone inscription is housed. As this stone inscription is a commemorative monument inscribed on the World Heritage List, it is necessary to prevent damage to ancient artifacts, to avoid disturbing researchers, domestic and international tourists, and those who wish to study the stone inscription, and to preserve the scenic view. Therefore, it is said that it is necessary to install a wire mesh on the inner side of the iron bars that surround the stone inscription to prevent donations from being made inside the iron bars. Furthermore, it is reported that responsible officials from the Bagan Branch of the Department of Archaeology and National Museums and the board of trustees met and discussed that the work of installing the wire mesh should be carried out under the advice and supervision of the Repair/Maintenance Section of the Bagan Branch of the Department of Archaeology and National Museums, and that a signboard stating "Donations are prohibited inside the stone inscription hall" should be displayed, and the board of trustees should supervise and implement measures to prevent further donations inside the stone inscription hall. Domestic tourists who wish to donate at Myazedi Pagoda are required to donate in an orderly manner at the donation boxes and designated locations set by the respective board of trustees. This stone inscription, recorded in four languages: Pyu, Mon, Myanmar, and Pali, is famous in Myanmar's literary history as the most complete and earliest stone inscription of the Myanmar script, and it was designated as a World Heritage site in 2015.
