HANOI - Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung emphasized that ensuring cybersecurity requires synchronized efforts between 'system protection' and 'human protection.' He stated that with 100 million citizens working together with one heart, they can form the strongest digital defense to protect themselves, their families, and the nation. This was shared by the Prime Minister, who also chairs the National Cybersecurity Steering Committee, at a rally celebrating Vietnam Cybersecurity Day. This aligns with this year's message, 'For a Humane Digital Space for Everyone,' aiming to make the safety, peace, and happiness of the people the highest measure for all policies. To the National Cybersecurity Steering Committee, the Prime Minister requested the completion of the legal framework and the resolution of bottlenecks in cybersecurity, data, and personal data protection. He stressed the need for robust sanctions to strictly handle legal violations in cyberspace, creating a safe, healthy, and trustworthy digital environment. Technology, telecommunications, and financial enterprises were urged to 'bear social responsibility.' Banks, in particular, were encouraged to proactively shift towards human-centric security architectures, integrating free, automatic fraud protection and warning features for users. Specialized cybersecurity forces were tasked with maintaining their role as a 'steel shield' to firmly protect national digital sovereignty. For citizens, the Prime Minister called for self-equipped digital skills, enhanced awareness, self-protection capabilities, and civilized behavior in cyberspace. He expressed the expectation that each individual would become an 'active digital shield.' August 6th of each year has been designated by the Government as Vietnam Cybersecurity Day.
