Thai PM Pledges New Opportunities for Thai Products in Chinese Market

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with 140 top executives from Thai private companies operating in China at the "Prime Minister - Thai Private Sector Lunch eon" in Chengdu, People's Republic of China. The participating companies represent various industries including finance, food, energy, industrial estates, medical and public health, and tourism. The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure in visiting Chengdu for the first time and meeting with the Thai private sector. He noted that this official government visit has clear and strong objectives, particularly in promoting new trade and investment cooperation. He also mentioned that during his meeting with President Xi Jinping, he received confirmation that "Thailand and China are one family." He plans to ask Premier Li Qiang to look after Thai entrepreneurs in China during his meeting with him tomorrow. Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted the opening of the BOI Chengdu office and the "Thailand - China (Sichuan) Investment and Economic Forum" held in the afternoon. These events signify Thailand's serious commitment to elevating local-level trade cooperation. He has assigned the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, Minister of Foreign Affairs, heads of government agencies overseeing economic and investment ministries, the Thai Ambassador to China, and the BOI Secretary-General to discuss opportunities and challenges faced by Thai private enterprises operating in China, especially in Sichuan Province. The Prime Minister reiterated Thailand's readiness, stating that the government's role is to seek cooperation and create opportunities for the private sector under the principles of good governance. He emphasized that government and private sectors must work together with transparency and accountability. The government will facilitate by amending laws that pose obstacles. He urged the private sector to be confident in Thailand's preparedness and assured them that the current government will provide convenience and serve as a "pathway" for private investment to achieve its highest goals. He also stressed the need for Thailand to accelerate FTA negotiations with key trading partners. In conclusion, the Prime Minister thanked all Thai private sector representatives for their significant contributions to driving the nation's economy. He reiterated, "The government's duty is to create opportunities, and the private sector is the creator of success. If we work together as 'Team Thailand' with a common goal, I am confident that Thailand will not only grow in the Chinese market but also advance strongly and sustainably into the global market."
