DOTr, Villar Group Ink Pact for LRT-1 Las Piñas Station
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has signed a right-of-way agreement with the Villar Group for approximately 4,465 square meters of land for the LRT-1 Las Piñas station, part of the LRT-1 South (Cavite) Extension project. This is expected to save public funds and expedite project completion.
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday said it formally signed a right-of-way agreement with the Villar Group of Companies for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 Las Piñas station. The DOTr said that the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) secured approximately 4,465 square meters of land from the Villar Group for the Las Piñas station of the LRT-1 South (Cavite) Extension project. It was formalized through the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA). “This donation will allow the government to save a significant amount of public funds. More importantly, it will help us move the project forward and complete it much sooner,” LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said in a statement. It added that the railway extension project seeks to ease the travel time in Baclaran, Paranaque to Bacoor, Cavite to 25 minutes from the previous one hour and 10 minutes commute. The LRT-1 Cavite extension is expected to accommodate an additional 300,000 passengers daily, the DOTr said. During the House of Representatives’ committee on appropriations briefing of the DOTr’s budget for 2027 last Sept. 3, Cabrera said that the executives of the Villar group agreed to provide two parcels of land from mortgage by September. He added that after 30 days of the MOA signing, the agency may begin construction in the area. /das Information Source: Inquirer NewsInfo
