Myanmar Junta Leader Visits Siem Reap, Tours Angkor Wat and Bayon Temples

On September 12, 2026, Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, visited Siem Reap province and held a courtesy meeting with Prak Sophoan, Governor of Siem Reap Province. Governor Prak Sophoan, on behalf of the Provincial Council, the Provincial Administration, the armed forces, and the people of Siem Reap province, expressed his warmest welcome to Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and all distinguished members of the accompanying delegation, who have spent their valuable time visiting Siem Reap, the land of culture and history of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Although the visit of the President and his entire delegation is for a limited time, the Governor stated that this visit has greatly encouraged and brought immense pride to himself as a provincial leader and all his colleagues, as well as to the general public in Siem Reap province. The Governor expressed his hope that the President and his delegation will have a wonderful experience with the scenery of the World Heritage temple complex and the living environment of the elegant tourist city of Siem Reap-Angkor. President Min Aung Hlaing expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor of Siem Reap Province and the Cambodian people for the warm welcome, close friendship, and brotherhood. During his state visit to the historic land of Siem Reap, Min Aung Hlaing visited ancient Khmer temples, especially Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple. He praised the architects of the Khmer ancestors for building an invaluable heritage, particularly highlighting the beauty of the structures adorned with exquisite and flawless decorative designs.
