Cambodia Distributes Aid to Over 3,000 Displaced Families Near Thai Border

The Cambodian government continues to provide support to citizens displaced near the Thai border, recently distributing aid to over 3,000 families residing in the Ron Cham village, Sla Kram commune, Svay Chek district, Banteay Meanchey province. On the morning of September 10, 2026, according to Khmer Times (AKP), Dr. Kun Nhem, Director-General of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia and President of the Cambodia-Friendship Association, accompanied by H.E. Ouk Rathry, Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, along with officials from the General Department of Customs and Excise, visited six villages of displaced people. They delivered aid from Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet. The distributed aid included food, daily necessities, and some cash, aimed at alleviating the daily living expenses of residents who had relocated to a safe location due to the challenging situation of invasion from Thailand into Cambodia's sovereign territory in the past. During the occasion, Dr. Kun Nhem conveyed warm regards and sincere concern from Prime Minister Hun Manet and Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet to all displaced citizens. He emphasized that the Prime Minister and his wife consistently pay attention to the well-being, safety, and living conditions of citizens everywhere, especially those facing hardship due to displacement. Dr. Kun Nhem highlighted that providing assistance not only eases the burden of living during difficult times but also demonstrates the attention and shared suffering of government leaders and relevant institutions with the people. Concurrently, Dr. Kun Nhem urged the displaced citizens to continue prioritizing their health, practicing hygiene, ensuring safety in their living, and encouraged them to pursue livelihoods to the best of their abilities, particularly through agriculture, farming, animal husbandry, and other businesses to increase income and strengthen family finances. Meanwhile, H.E. Ouk Rathry, Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, expressed his profound gratitude to Dr. Kun Nhem and the Cambodia-Friendship Association of the General Department of Customs and Excise for bringing the Prime Minister's aid to the displaced families in Ron Cham village. The governor stated that the participation of state institutions and philanthropists in supporting displaced citizens is a valuable source of encouragement for those facing difficulties. It also reflects the spirit of solidarity and sharing within Cambodian society. For the over 3,000 families in six villages, receiving food, daily necessities, and cash today not only addresses their immediate daily needs but also serves as a message that they are not left to face hardship alone. The government, local authorities, and relevant institutions remain attentive and are working together to resolve the challenges faced by the people to the best of their abilities. This humanitarian activity also contributes to strengthening the morale and providing a sense of warmth to the displaced citizens during a time when they need support, care, and encouragement from the surrounding society.
