Prabowo Urges New Officers Against Corruption, Drugs, and Gambling

President Prabowo Subianto has sternly reminded newly graduated TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (Indonesian National Police) officers of 2026 not to abuse their positions and to stay away from corruption, drugs, gambling, and other illegal activities. During the Prasetya Perwira (Praspa) ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, the President emphasized that integrity is the most important honor for an officer. He stated that the rank received is not just a symbol of honor, but a "trust" from the people, and betraying that trust means losing one's honor. "Never abuse your position. Never be tempted by corruption, fraud. Never compromise with drugs, gambling, or other violations of the law," said Prabowo. Prabowo reminded the new officers that their education, equipment, and salaries are all funded by the people's money. He urged them to ensure their dedication is always aimed at protecting the community. "You were born from the people, educated with the people's money, wear clothes from the people, eat from the people, and receive salaries from the people. Always serve the people," he said. Furthermore, President Prabowo urged the TNI and Polri to avoid narrow "corps loyalty" and to always place the interests of the nation and state above personal and group interests. He concluded by reminding them that positions and ranks are temporary, while what will be remembered is dedication to the nation and state. This address aims to instill a high sense of ethics and service to the people among the new generation of leaders responsible for Indonesia's security. Particularly, corruption and drug-related issues have been identified as past challenges within Indonesian public institutions, making the President's strong message a clear stance against these problems.
