VnExpress Marathon Nha Trang 2026 Gears Up for Exciting Race

Preparations are in the final stages for the VnExpress Marathon Nha Trang 2026, set to ignite the city with the fervor of runners this weekend. This marks the fifth edition of the popular event, which is expected to draw approximately 10,000 participants. The marathon features multiple race distances, with the 42km full marathon course taking runners along Nha Trang's picturesque coastline. A key highlight of the 42km route is the Luong Son Pass, which has been extended by about 1km compared to last year. This challenging section features continuous ascents and descents over 50 meters in elevation, demanding strategic pacing and energy management from the athletes. Weather forecasts predict relatively favorable conditions for the race, with temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius in the early morning, partly cloudy skies, and a chance of light rain. However, organizers are advising participants to stay hydrated, as temperatures could rise to nearly 30 degrees Celsius closer to sunrise. Around 1,000 student volunteers are mobilized to support the event, assisting with water stations, security, and overall runner assistance, contributing their youthful energy and enthusiasm. The VnExpress Marathon has established itself as a premier sporting event in Vietnam, significantly boosting the local economy and tourism in Nha Trang. Last year's event reportedly contributed 7.6 trillion VND (approximately $300 million USD) to the province's tourism revenue during the month of its organization. Local authorities attribute the event's sustained success to close collaboration between organizers and the government, the welcoming local community, and the unique, scenic, and safe coastal course. First introduced in Nha Trang in 2022 as part of a five-event series, the marathon has seen continuous growth. Participation numbers rose from 8,500 in 2022 to 11,000 in 2023 and peaked at 13,000 in 2024, with an increasing number of international runners.
