Vietnam, China Parties Boost Ties Through Mutual Learning
Vietnam and China's Communist Parties have agreed to deepen bilateral ties and advance the building of a "shared future" community through high-level exchanges, signaling a commitment to making their strategic partnership more substantive.
The two Parties agreed to seriously and effectively implement important common perceptions reached by the top leaders of the two countries, and promote the strategic guiding role of high-level exchanges. This will advance the building of the Vietnam-China Community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, making it increasingly practical and profound in accordance with the "six major orientations." Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh stated that the strong participation of delegates showed that bilateral cooperation is driven not only by the governments but also by businesses and young people. General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence, emphasized that Vietnam attaches importance to consolidating and developing its friendly neighborliness and Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership with the Party, Government, people, and military of China. Vietnam proposed prioritizing stronger regional resilience by scaling up energy cooperation, pooling financial resources, and cracking down on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. This aims to build a resilient and sustainable blue economy. The Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs underscored ASEAN+3's role as a strategic platform for deepening regional economic integration, strengthening resilience, and helping build a peaceful and prosperous future for the region. Vietnam's leadership urged all-level authorities, sectors, localities, and the public to fully implement preferential policies for revolution contributors, push ahead with the 500-day campaign, expand gratitude movements, accelerate housing support for children of Agent Orange/dioxin victims, and strengthen patriotic education. Vietnam reaffirmed that it consistently regards Japan as one of its most important and long-term strategic partners and supports the official visit of the Japanese Prime Minister to Vietnam in May 2026, which has created fresh momentum for strengthening ties between the two parties and the two countries. Mekong-Japan cooperation, along with ASEAN-led mechanisms, contributes to building a peaceful, stable, resilient, and prosperous Asia-Pacific and Indo-Pacific region, they stressed.
