Vietnam Strengthens International Ties Ahead of National Day

Vietnam is focusing on strengthening international relations and promoting cooperation ahead of its National Day on September 2. Initiatives include enhancing agricultural collaboration with Cuba and positioning itself as a bridge between ASEAN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). In Cuba, the first harvest of rice grown from Vietnam's OM5451 variety was delivered by Vietnamese agricultural company TBAgri to its local partner GRANMAX. This marks a significant step in the joint Vietnam-Cuba rice production project, symbolizing the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two nations. Vietnam has expressed its readiness to serve as a bridge to promote cooperation between ASEAN and the SCO. The country aims to expand areas of cooperation, strengthen strategic autonomy, and deliver tangible benefits to its people by enhancing connectivity between Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and the broader Eurasian region. On the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Bishkek, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with the Vietnamese community and highlighted symbols of friendship between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan, such as Ho Chi Minh Square and the statue of President Ho Chi Minh. Eighty-one years since its founding, Vietnam has transformed from a poor, underdeveloped nation into a dynamic economy with an increasing global presence. Projections for 2025 indicate a GDP of US$514 billion, economic growth of 8.02%, total trade turnover of US$930 billion, and registered foreign direct investment (FDI) exceeding US$38.4 billion. Vietnam reaffirms its commitment to upholding international law, the UN Charter, and its foreign policy of independence and self-reliance, while promoting dialogue and cooperation for peace, stability, and sustainable development.
