Cambodia Urges Religious Leaders to Boost Anti-Drug Efforts via App Promotion

The National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) in Cambodia has urged religious leaders in Preah Sihanouk province to help disseminate information about illegal drugs and promote the "NoDrug" application. This appeal was made during a workshop on September 5th, focused on "Raising Awareness of the Impacts of Drug Use, the App NoDrug, and the Law on Drug Control in the Inter-Religious Sector." The event was attended by approximately 500 representatives from ministries, institutions, and the five major religions in the province. Lieutenant General Meas Virith, Secretary-General of the NACD, stated that the current government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet continues to uphold religious harmony and freedom of belief, enabling believers to participate in social work to the best of their abilities. He expressed gratitude and commendation to all relevant parties for their active participation in combating drugs. He requested that the religious representatives attending the workshop share the knowledge gained about drug issues and the "NoDrug" app with their congregations, particularly youth and families. He also encouraged the use of the "NoDrug" app for knowledge acquisition and for reporting drug-related activities to help remove drugs from communities. Chhay Vanna, a Senator, affirmed that religious harmony truly leads to peace, security, and development in society. He emphasized that the participation of all religions in social work can help society avoid various problems, including drug-related issues. Nai Kong, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, stated that the workshop was organized with the aim of engaging all religions in the fight against drugs and promoting the use of the "NoDrug" mobile application.
