Two men arrested with 2.8 million methamphetamine pills in Chiang Rai

Mekong, September 3 Today, September 3, at 6:45 AM local time, in the vicinity of the Chiang Saen International Vocational Development Center in Ward 8, Wiang sub-district, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, a joint operation by anti-narcotics officials and police resulted in the arrest of two men along with 2.8 million methamphetamine pills. Upon stopping and searching a silver MPV with five doors and a Chiang Mai license plate, 2.8 million methamphetamine pills were found being transported in 14 packages, leading to the arrest of the 31-year-old male driver from Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It was also discovered that another car had been driving ahead, scouting the route, and that car was pursued and arrested in the Saket Son area of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, leading to the arrest of its 38-year-old male driver. According to initial investigations, the methamphetamine pills were transported from the Mae Sai border area and were primarily driven through side roads to evade checkpoints. They were being driven from Mae Sai to Chiang Saen, and then through Mae Chan District to Chiang Rai.
