Internet companies to face strict legal action if service is neglected, users can file complaints

Internet companies holding telecommunication service business licenses will be able to receive complaints from the public if they neglect their services, and will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law, said Deputy Minister U Thet Win Aung of the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications. This was stated by Deputy Minister U Thet Win Aung of the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications in response to a starred question from U Aye Chan, a Member of Parliament for the Hlaing Thar Yar (East) constituency, regarding the inspection and release of performance of internet service providers and the status of actions taken against companies whose performance falls below contractual standards, during the 29th day of the 3rd Pyidaungsu Hluttaw's 2nd regular session held on July 24. The Deputy Minister stated that if users experience internet line disconnections, they must first inform the respective company, and if the company fails to provide service and neglects it, they can contact the relevant departments to file a complaint. Those who wish to file a complaint can directly contact the Directorate of Posts and Telecommunications (PTD) via email at [email protected], or the Consumer Affairs Department's Consumer Call Center at phone number 1535. Furthermore, the Consumer Affairs Department has received a total of 2,200 complaints regarding telecommunication services from 2017 to July 20, 2026, of which 2,192 have been successfully resolved and addressed, and the remaining eight cases are still being resolved and addressed.
