Vietnam Air Force Academy to Establish Drone Training Center

On August 4, the Air Force Officer School (Air Defense-Air Force Service) held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish a training center for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This initiative is part of a broader modernization strategy within the Vietnam People's Army. In recent years, Vietnam has been prioritizing the enhancement of its defense capabilities, recognizing the critical role of UAV technology in improving surveillance, reconnaissance, and potential military operations. The establishment of the training center at the Air Force Officer School aims to foster specialized personnel and facilitate technical proficiency. This is expected to produce experts capable of operating advanced UAV systems in the future. Across Vietnam, the establishment of UAV units is progressing within various units under the Ministry of Defense. For instance, Military Region 7 has announced the formation of a UAV battalion, and the Staff of Military Region 5 has also established a UAV battalion. Furthermore, border guard forces in Quang Tri, Nghe An, and Dak Lak provinces have each set up UAV platoons, indicating an expansion in the utilization of drones for border management and surveillance activities. These developments reflect Vietnam's proactive approach to adopting cutting-edge technologies to safeguard its territorial integrity and national security.
