Hung Yen Inaugurates VND 145 Billion Road Connecting Two Cultural Heritages

The province of Hung Yen in northern Vietnam held an inauguration ceremony on July 22 for a new road constructed with an investment of VND 145 billion (approximately USD 5.7 million). The project coincides with the 300th anniversary of the birth of the renowned cultural figure Le Quy Don. The newly built road connects the Le Quy Don Memorial Site with the Tran Dynasty Royal Tombs and Temples National Special Monument located in Long Hung commune. This development is expected to significantly improve access to the region's important cultural heritage sites. Hung Yen Province has been undertaking numerous activities to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Le Quy Don's birth and honor his achievements. These initiatives include preparing to nominate Le Quy Don for inscription as a World Cultural Figure and releasing a special edition of his seminal work, 'Dai Viet Thong Su' (Comprehensive History of Dai Viet). The newly opened road is part of these cultural promotion efforts and is anticipated to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy, particularly the tourism sector. Le Quy Don was a prominent Vietnamese scholar of the 18th century, making significant contributions across various fields such as literature, history, geography, and law. His 'Dai Viet Thong Su' is highly regarded as a crucial work that systematically chronicles Vietnamese history. With the opening of this road, travel between the Le Quy Don Memorial Site and the Tran Dynasty Royal Tombs and Temples will become more convenient, fostering expectations for an increase in domestic and international visitors. This initiative is aligned with the cultural heritage preservation and utilization, as well as regional development strategies promoted by the Vietnamese Communist Party and local authorities.
