Did VP Sara break the sub judice rule? Look at the context, says counsel

Vice President Sara Duterte's counsel clarified that there is more context to her statement expressing distrust in the courts. House private prosecutor Lorna Kapunan said that when Duterte issued the comment outside the Quezon City Regional Trial Court while posting bail for her grave threats case, it is a test case for the sub judice rule that was issued in the impeachment court by Presiding Officer Francis “Chiz” Escudero. Asked on Balitanghali how they took this statement from Kapunan, Duterte's counsel Paul Lawrence Lim said that there was more context to what she said. “That was the time when she was not sure if she wanted to enter the courthouse or the courtroom,” Lim said. Lim said that Duterte had her fears after law enforcement officials went to her family home, which was further heightened when she saw so many police officers outside of the court. “From what I understand, she said that she did not trust the court’s ability to protect her, because her point was to go up to the court to post bail.” Lim said. The Vice President was worried about what would happen to her from the ground floor to the fifth floor. Despite the Department of Interior and Local Government’s assurance that all the procedures were followed, Duterte’s counsel said that she would not have these fears unless there was a basis. The vice president even accused the agency of harassment. “She is saying harassment because it has been a while; as I said, she was asking for her family not to be included. Maybe that is why she was so affected on Saturday,” Lim said. Duterte posted bail for three counts of grave threats after she said that she had contracted an assassin to kill President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
