Science and Technology Industry: Union Minister Addresses Meetings in Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister for Science and Technology and Chairman of the National Standards Council Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw addressed the Standardization Executive Committee Meeting (1/2026) and the National Standards Council Meeting (1/2026) in Nay Pyi Taw. During the Standardization Executive Committee Meeting, the Director General of the Department of Research and Innovation presented the implementation of national-level standardization and quality activities, as well as the work plans to be submitted for approval to the National Standards Council Meeting. In addition, committee members presented proposed standards submitted by their respective technical subcommittees, draft Myanmar Standards currently being drafted, and summaries of draft Myanmar Standards that have completed the public comment process. And, committee members and officials from related ministries participated in supplementary discussions. During the National Standards Council Meeting, discussions were held regarding the completion status of decisions approved during the National Standards Council Meeting (1/2025), 183 final draft Myanmar Standards finalized through the step-by-step drafting process, data on priority sectors collected through surveys by governmental and non-governmental organizations regarding products seeking domestic and international quality certification, and the designation of the Small Scale Industries Department Laboratory (Yangon) as an accredited laboratory.
