Cambodia's Sihanoukville Investment Promotion Meeting Reviews 10 Projects Valued Over $72 Million

The Sihanoukville Investment Promotion Task Force in Cambodia has reviewed 10 investment and business projects, with an estimated investment capital of over $72 million, expected to create approximately 800 new job opportunities. The meeting was led by Dr. Hanh Sahip, advisor to the Prime Minister and chairman of the task force, and attended by representatives from relevant ministries, institutions, and the provincial administration. These projects include the establishment of a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Cluster, a metal processing factory, a plywood processing factory, resort and hotel projects, and a residential building project. These investments are anticipated to further accelerate the economic development of Sihanoukville. From 2024 to the second quarter of 2026, the task force has provided incentives and facilitated procedures for a total of 491 projects. The estimated investment capital for these projects amounts to $8.4 billion, creating over 60,000 job opportunities. The projects are categorized as 216 related to existing buildings, 235 unrelated to existing buildings or new projects, 25 expansion projects, and 15 existing projects. Dr. Hanh Sahip further highlighted the findings from a study on the current investment climate in Sihanoukville during the first quarter of 2026. He noted that recent government measures are fostering investor confidence, with continued activity in the real estate and tourism sectors, and positive signs in the industrial sector. The trend of industrial factories in Sihanoukville utilizing local raw materials such as locally planted wood, wood chips, cassava flour, rubber, and salt presents an additional opportunity for investment. This trend necessitates continued promotion, support, and facilitation from relevant ministries and institutions, working closely and transparently to resolve issues, adhering to the "One-Stop Service" approach. Dr. Hanh Sahip highly valued the participation, support, commitment, and high willingness of the task force and requested relevant ministries and institutions to continue their cooperation in successfully implementing the government's measures. He emphasized the need for synchronized work to resolve investors' issues "as a package" with consistency. All procedural facilitation, incentives, and responses to the actual needs of businesses must be proactive, rapid, and transparent, prioritizing national interests to further improve the business environment in Sihanoukville.
