Son La Prison's History Immortalized in Soul-Stirring Art Program

On the evening of July 27, an art program titled 'Về nguồn' (Returning to the Source) was held at the Son La Prison special national relic site in Vietnam's Son La Province. With the subtitle 'Hell on Earth,' the program transported attendees back to the era of arduous struggles by revolutionary soldiers imprisoned under the colonial regime. The performance vividly portrayed the indomitable spirit and unwavering determination for national liberation that persisted among revolutionary soldiers, even amidst the harsh conditions of the time, through music and dramatic presentations. Participants had a valuable opportunity to experience the difficulties they faced and their strong will to overcome them, while feeling the weight of history. Son La Prison was built by the French colonial administration to house political prisoners, where many revolutionaries endured torture and forced labor, continuing to support the independence movement. Today, the site serves as an important place for historical education and remembrance of past sacrifices. This artistic program aims not only to commemorate but also to convey the magnitude of sacrifices made for the nation's independence and freedom to contemporary Vietnamese citizens, particularly the younger generation, thereby deepening patriotism and historical understanding. Such cultural initiatives can be seen as part of the historical education and national cohesion emphasized by the Communist Party of Vietnam.
