Lam Dong: Gia Bac Pass Landslide Due to Heavy Rain

In Lam Dong Province, located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, a large-scale landslide has occurred on the Gia Bac Pass (National Highway 28) due to several days of heavy rainfall, burying the road under debris. The landslide was confirmed on September 23 in Son Dien xã, with the fallen soil and rocks completely covering the road surface at Km 51 of National Highway 28. This collapse site is within an area where Lam Dong Province has been undertaking emergency construction work to address landslides. Local authorities, in coordination with relevant agencies, are currently sealing off the site, posting warning signs, and responding to the incident. Vehicle traffic through this section has also been prohibited. The Gia Bac Pass is over 10 km long and is situated on National Highway 28, serving as a crucial transportation link connecting National Highway 1A and National Highway 20. Previously, several sections of National Highway 28 passing through Son Dien xã had experienced severe landslides after prolonged heavy rains, causing traffic disruptions. Consequently, Lam Dong Province had already declared a state of emergency due to natural disasters and was implementing urgent construction projects to mitigate landslides.
