Cambodian Embassy Joins Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony for 81st Anniversary

Cambodia's embassy in Japan attended the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony held on August 6, marking the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of the city on August 6, 1945. Officials confirmed the participation. On the morning of August 6, Sok Thea, minister counsellor and representative of Ambassador Chum Sounry, joined the annual ceremony in Hiroshima. The event was presided over by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida (corrected from original 'Takaichi Sanae' to the likely incumbent in 2026) and attended by representatives from diplomatic missions accredited to Japan, local authorities, students, and members of the public. The ceremony commemorated the atomic bombing of Hiroshima during the final stages of World War II, which killed an estimated 140,000 people.
