First Tropical Depression of the Year Forms in Vietnam's East Sea, Heading Towards Taiwan

Vietnam's National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting announced the formation of the year's first tropical depression in the waters east of Vietnam. The system is forecast to move towards Taiwan, with no direct impact expected on the Vietnamese mainland. The center also noted an increased risk of powerful typhoons due to the El Niño phenomenon.
