Western Visayas braces for continued habagat rains until Tuesday

ILOILO CITY — Western Visayas may continue to experience rains triggered by the southwest monsoon or "habagat" until Tuesday, according to the latest impact-based forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). In Impact-Based Forecast No. 9 issued at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, Pagasa’s Visayas Regional Services Division said that the monsoon rains might be enhanced over the weekend, possibly until Tuesday. Pagasa warned of possible heavy rains that could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying areas and near riverbanks.
