Indigenous Communities Challenge Indonesian Conservation Law at Constitutional Court

Representatives of indigenous communities in Bali have filed a judicial review at Indonesia's Constitutional Court, arguing that the Law on Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems (UU Konservasi) restricts and eliminates indigenous peoples' rights. The law is criticized for disregarding traditional conservation practices and containing provisions that could criminalize them.
